Ο Stephen Edwin King γεννήθηκε στις 21 Σεπτεμβρίου 1947 και είναι Αμερικανός συγγραφέας μυθιστορημάτων τρόμου και φαντασίας. Θεωρείται ως ο “Βασιλιάς του τρόμου”. Τα βιβλία του έχουν διασκευαστεί σε ταινίες, τηλεοπτικές σειρές και κόμικς. Ο Stephen King έχει εκδώσει επτά μυθιστορήματα με το ψευδώνυμο Richard Bachman και πέντε βιβλία μη μυθοπλασίας. Έχει γράψει περίπου 200 διηγήματα, που έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε συλλογές βιβλίων. Το 2015, του απονεμήθηκε Εθνικό Μετάλλιο Τεχνών από το Εθνικό Ίδρυμα Τεχνών των ΗΠΑ για τη συμβολή του στη λογοτεχνία.
